The BladeFLASK scalpel blade remover protects healthcare workers from blood borne pathogens such as HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C resulting from scalpel injuries. It is simple to use with a quick single-handed “push, click, and pull” action to remove and contain used scalpel blades.

The Qlicksmart BladeFLASK has been designed to comply with the international standard colours for medical sharps waste. The red unit complies with US standards and the yellow unit for all other countries around the globe.
Once BladeFLASK is fully filled, it must be disposed of as medical waste. BladeFLASK is a sharps container itself so you do not need to put it in another sharps container. Please follow your organisation’s standard procedures for disposal of medical waste. Please note: if your organisation’s infection control guidelines require you to dispose BladeFLASK within a certain period of time regardless whether it’s fully filled or not, please consult us for sterile use alternatives.
No. Each BladeFLASK has been designed and tested to accept an approximate of 100 blades. After the 100th blade has been removed, an auto shut-off gate will be activated (with the indicator shown as “FULL”) to prevent overfilling.
The counter counts down from 100 to 0, then 'FULL', which is designed to indicate to the users when the device is becoming full and a new one may be needed.
BladeFLASK is constantly being reviewed for use with new handles and blades as they are released. BladeFLASK can accept round handles where the thickness of the handle is not more than 3.6mm. BladeFLASK accommodates to #3, #3L, #4, #4L, #5, #6, #7, #9, Baron & Lawton Long Handle. BladeFLASK accommodate to #6, #9, #10, #10A, #11, #12, #13, etc. up to and including #25A, #27 and #36 scalpel blades. BladeFLASK cannot accept blades longer than #36 due to the depth of the Flask.The BladeFLASK CANNOT be used with Beaver handles, safety scalpels or disposable plastic handles. Some brands of handles may not work well with BladeFLASK due to the shape and slope of the handle tang.
In Australia and New Zealand, Qlicksmart is certified for compliance with AS/NZS 3825:1998 - Procedures and devices for the removal and disposal of scalpel blades from scalpel handles. In the USA, BladeFLASK has 510(k) approval for sale and distribution in all appropriate, regulated environments. In Europe, BladeFLASK has Self-Declaration of Conformity as a Class I Device, pursuant to EC Directive 93/42/EEC. BladeFLASK is also adheres to OSHA blood borne guidelines.

When should I replace my BladeFlask EVO?
The BladeFlask EVO shuts-off automatically after approximately 100 blades are removed, and then must be disposed and replaced. Please check the count-down indicator which counts down from 100 to 0, then ‘FULL’ to see when you will need to replace the BladeFlask EVO.
Who should be using BladeFlaskEVO?
Anyone who uses scalpel blades can use the BladeFlask EVO, including those working in outpatient centres, clinics, laboratories, and mortuaries. The BladeFlask EVO was designed as the next generation of the BladeFLASK, and can now remove large blades like those used in mortuaries, and accommodates barron, bulbous, circular or hexagonal handles used for plastic surgeries and in some dental clinics.
How do I dispose of the BladeFlask EVO
Please follow your organisation’s infection control guidelines on the disposal time-frame for used BladeFlask EVO, regardless of whether the unit has shut off. Once the BladeFlask EVO has shut-off, it must be disposed of as medical waste. Please also follow your organisation’s standard procedures for disposal of medical waste that contain sharps. The BladeFlask EVO has been tested in accordance with the provision of the United Nations Transport of Dangerous Goods, Chapter 6.
Why do I need a Mounting Bracket?
The Mounting Bracket helps to position the BladeFlask EVO so that it can remove blades single-handedly. The Mounting Bracket also allows the BladeFlask EVO to be mounted on a vertical or horizontal surface (eg on a wall or bench), so that blades can be removed at point of use.
How do I install the Mounting Bracket?
You can affix the Mounting Bracket via the industrial-strength double-sided tape, or by screws and lugs which are included in the packaging. A fitting template has been included in the Mounting Bracket packaging to indicate the clearance required for easy installation.
When should I install a new Mounting Bracket?
You can re-use the Mounting Bracket until the current bracket starts to become loose or it no longer holds the BladeFlask EVO firmly.
Why are there two different colours of the Qlicksmart BladeFlask EVO?
The Qlicksmart BladeFlask EVO has been designed to comply with the international standard colours for medical sharps waste. The red unit complies with US, Central America, and South America standards, and the yellow unit complies with most other countries’ standards. Please consult your organization to determine which unit complies with local standard colours for medical sharps waste.
Is the BladeFlask EVO latex free?
YES. The BladeFlask EVO body is made of a thermoplastic, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and Acetyl, and the inner mechanism in made from ABS and Stainless Steel. The Mounting Bracket is made from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS).

The universal bracket helps to position the BladeFLASK so that it can remove blades single-handedly. The bracket also allows the BladeFLASK to be mounted conveniently either on a vertical or horizontal surface, eg, on a wall or on the trolley, with screws of industrial strength two-sided tape. Most importantly, make sure the bracket is fixed at the optimal point-of-use, ie, a handy location where people can use the BladeFLASK to remove blades immediately, which will decrease the chances of using their fingers to remove blades. You should use the fixation template, which is included in the package, to ensure the minimal clearance is achieved for positioning BladeFLASK.
A new bracket needs to be reinstalled only when the current bracket starts to become loose and no longer holds the BladeFLASK firmly on the wall or bench. You do no need to install a new bracket every time you replace the BladeFLASK. However, you may need to (re)install a new bracket if the location of the BladeFLASK is not fixed optimally, ie, for people to remove blades conveniently. To avoid this, make sure that the BladeFLASK is fixed at the best point-of-use.

The SnapIT Personal comes in Regular size, which fits most 1mL-15mL ampoules. However, compatibility depends on the ampoule's geometry and the diameter of the ampoule lid. Ampoules of the same size can have a different geometry and ampoule lid diameter. The regular size is compatible with an ampoule diamter from 7.15mm to 9.75mm. Note that the ampoule size in ml is used only as a guideline.
It is important to follow the steps of “How to Use SnapIT”, as risk of shattering is minimised if these instructions are followed. You should align the ampoule dot with the SnapIT, then snap away from the dot; if aligned incorrectly, shattering may occur. If there is no dot on the ampoule, but there is a line around the ampoule neck, then there is no need to align the ampoule with SnapIT before snapping open. Ampoules that have no dot or line around the ampoule neck can mean that it has no scoring. You will need to score the ampoule (via a small saw or blade, etc.) before using SnapIT to open the ampoule. SnapIT Trolley Edition comes in three sizes (Regular, Large and Extra Large), for opening the different sizes of ampoules. However, compatibility depends on the ampoule's geometry and the diameter of the ampoule lid. Ampoules of the same size can have a different geometry and ampoule lid diameter. The ampoule size in ml is used only as a guideline.
- Regular size fits most ampoules 1mL-15mL and is compatible with ampoule diameter from 7.15mm to 9.75mm
- Large size fits most ampoules 5mL-25mL and is compatible with ampoule diameter from 9.70mm to 12.45mm
- Large size fits most ampoules 20mL-30mL and is compatible with ampoule diameter from 12.45mm to 15.05mm
It is important to follow the steps of “How to Use SnapIT”, as risk of shattering is minimised if these instructions are followed. You should align the ampoule dot with the SnapIT, then snap away from the dot; if aligned incorrectly, shattering may occur. If there is no dot on the ampoule, but there is a line around the ampoule neck, then there is no need to align the ampoule with SnapIT before snapping open. Ampoules that have no dot or line around the ampoule neck can mean that it has no scoring. You will need to score the ampoule (via a small saw or blade, etc.) before using SnapIT to open the ampoule.
